White House Lifts Ban on Cameras and Social Media

For over 40 years the White House has had a ban on photography and use of social media within the building. This rule was created to protect art from the potential damaging effects from flash photography.

First Lady Michelle Obama announced yesterday via Instagram  with a clever video ripping up tour signs to announce the lift of the ban. Selfies are now fully encouraged at the White House with use of the hash tag #WhiteHouseTour.
