Google announced the launch of Google moon on the 20th (two days ago) on the anniversary of the first manned moon landing but we decided that it was fun enough (and not critical to the news we give priority on our SEO blog) that we should save our post on the launch of this very fun little tool for Friday when we like to post a fun website or tid-bit of information for our weekend visitors to enjoy. 🙂
The project was created based on the birthday wish of Google software engineer Larry Schwimmer who shares a birthday with this historic day. Larry had written this desire on a Post It only a week earlier.
As a tip, if you visit Google moon at http://moon.google.com/ try scrolling all the way in. You’ll discover that what you learned when you were 6 turns out to be true. 🙂
