Last Week at Search Engine Marketing Expo East, Google’s Webmaster Trends Analyst and Search Quality Engineer Gary Illyes stated the latest update should drop some this week. After almost a year since the last update, the refresh could give websites having a Penguin penalty a bit of bump if they’ve cleaned out their bad links.
From Gary’s comments at SMX, Penguin 3.0 is a major re-write of the algorithm, aimed at de-ranking sites with participate in link schemes, and with this re-write we may see more frequent Penguin refreshes. If you’re a SEO or webmaster and have any penguin sightings let us know!
This update comes hot on the heels of a new Panda update, which started a slow rollout at the end of September, so webmasters and SEOs should expect to see the ripples from Googles latest refreshes in the near future.
