So this happened …
Earlier today it was discovered that Google’s policy of allowing users to submit edits to Google Maps has resulted in a rather interesting image to appear. Before we get to what it means and their reply … let’s take a look at what you can right now see on Google Maps.
A Google spokesperson told Mashable about the subject:
“Even though edits are moderated, occasionally the odd inaccurate or cheeky edit may slip through our system. We’ve been made aware of the issue and are working on getting it removed.”
Now here’s something I find personally interesting … the issue was discovered many hours ago as of this writing and yet the image can still be seen here. I should note, if you want to see it it may not be visible when the page first loads but panning in or out displays it pretty clearly.
This hack comes just days after Edward Snowden could be found in the whitehouse. Or rather, Edward’s Snow Den could be.
Obviously there are some pretty major issues going on with Google’s review process, something that needs to be addressed quickly. Until them … let the games (or rather … gaming) begin (or rather … continue).
