Network Like A Ninja

ninja

Every time we land a new client I find myself networking within each industry. It can take a while but eventually I find myself in amongst the circles I’ve needed to get in front of. It takes ninja like skills to move into unknown professional social circles without being detected.

Well, the truth is I just communicate like I would to any other human being. The one thing that helps is to fully understand who your client is. The more you know about your client enables you to blend in with your clients industry.

“There is a difference between knowing the path and walking the path.”~ Morpheus (The Matrix)

In relationship to knowing the client it help to more than just the numbers it also helps to understand how they (Your Client) got to where they are at the present moment. All clients have experienced their ups and downs, successes and failures. Knowing this story can give you an idea what their ebbs and flows as well as social circles they can take into beyond their contract with you. It’s almost in a sense of understanding what community they best fit in.

Every company needs a community. In a community people and businesses offer support and share networking opportunities. Most of these communities have been around a long time and when you have a client that has no community it can be hard working your way into one. This is where it takes your ninja skills. If you know your clients history and you have a good understanding of what it is like in their shoes it becomes easier identifying participating in the perfect community.

“Anything can be a weapon in imaginative hands.”~Jane Prowse, The Revenge of Praying Mantis

Maybe your client is tight lipped and won’t reveal a branded story or let off a history. That’s where imagination comes into play. You take your numbers from your analytics and movement in their demographic and you create a story. Be imaginative. Ask yourself what it would be like if you were in your client’s shoes then build on top of that. This will help a ninja immensely when finding your way into the right community.

“A master can teach many things. But the most important lesson for a ninja is to learn oneself.”~Jarius Raphel

There are so many how to networking articles out there, including mine but the most important lesson a ninja can learn is by understanding themselves first. This is something I think Splinter from the Ninja Turtles would say to his pupils. Ultimately, understanding how you moved from social circle to social circle will give you an enlightened understanding of how to get your client to the top.
